Simple to install and use, TECA Custom Controls for the AS/400 allow client/server developers to be instantly productive. TECA Custom Controls can be used in any 32-bit COM compliant application; including Visual Basic 4.0, Visual C++, Delphi, Powerbuilder, Visual RPG, Obsydian, Java and many others. All of the OCX controls contain full support for properties, methods, and events. No host components are required to use any of the OCX controls.

The FileTransfer/OCX provides easy and ultra-fast file transfer between the AS/400 and the PC. The FileTransfer/OCX has the ability to upload and download database files and source files. It also has the ability to retrieve lists of libraries, files, file member names and field names from the AS/400. The FileTransfer/OCX can transfer an entire file and automatically convert all fields with one operation. It can also optionally transfer files in single record mode.

The DataQueue/OCX provides access to the full functionality of AS/400 data queues. The DataQueue/OCX includes the ability to read, write, create, delete, clear, and query both keyed and non-keyed data queues. It also supports the ability to perform non-destructive reads on data queue entries. The DataQueue/OCX provides a good basis for building your own high performance client/server applications.

The RemoteCommand/OCX executes commands on the AS/400 by simply setting properties or methods in the control. Commands can be executed synchronously or asynchronously which allows the PC to perform multitasking while the AS/400 command is being executed.

The Folders/OCX allows you to programmatically assign and release one or more AS/400 folders from your client/server applications. The Folders/OCX can be used through either setting the control properties or methods, or it can display an interactive dialog box that allows the end-user to work with AS/400 shared folders.

The SystemName/OCX is a drop-down combo box that contains a list of connected AS/400 system names. The SystemName/OCX allows you to select the active system by pointing and clicking the appropriate AS/400 system name from the list. No coding is required to use the SystemName/OCX.

The Registry/OCX allows access to custom configuration values that are stored in the Windows95 or the WindowsNT Registry. The Registry/OCX provides the ability to both read and write Registry keys and data.

Each TECA Custom Control comes with an example interactive program. The example program is both a useful utility and a source code guide that illustrates using the OCX controls in the VB development environment. A User’s Guide is provided that fully documents the properties and methods used by each OCX control. A tutorial is also provided that steps you through building your own client/server application using TECA Custom Controls.

TECA Custom Controls for the AS/400 version 2.0 will be available November 1st, 1996 and is priced at $495.00 for the package of six OCX controls. Each custom control is also available separately and are priced as follows: FileTransfer/OCX $165.00; DataQueue/OCX $145.00; RemoteCommand/OCX $95.00; Folders/OCX $65.00; SystemName/OCX $55.00; Registry/OCX $25.00. TECA Custom Controls SuperPak is priced at $595.00 and includes the package of six OCX controls AND TECA Custom Controls for the AS/400 version 1.1; a package of six VBX controls. TECA Custom Controls for the AS/400 are licensed and priced per each development PC, there are no associated run-time charges. TECA still offers free techincal support for TECA Custom Controls.
